BACKSTREET BOYS GEAR UP FOR NEW ALBUM
THIS IS US - SET FOR AN OCTOBER 6TH RELEASE
New York, NY -- Backstreet Boys are very proud to announce the release of their new album, This Is Us. Set for an October 6th release on Jive Records, This Is Us is the seventh studio album from this groundbreaking and chart topping group that redefined the modern musical landscape, ushering in a chapter of pop culture that commandeered the world’s radio airwaves, broke music and concert sales records, and launched a new generation of teen idols. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean collaborated with a powerhouse suite of producers and songwriter on This Is Us that included T-Pain, Max Martin, RedOne, Soulshock and Karlin, Jim Jonsin and Claude Kelly. The end result is an indelible and finely crafted R&B and pop album from four talented musicians who love what they do and who maintain the rare relevance in an industry that often disposes of pop acts.
The 11 songs that make up This Is Us are the sounds of four skilled singers with a similar vision, who have dealt with the trials and tribulations that accompany fame at an early age and who came out as one of the most successful groups of all time. From the undeniable dance floor ready lead single, “Straight Through My Heart” to the reflective soar of “Bigger,” from the hook crazy “Bye Bye Love” to the romantic yearning of “She’s A Dream,” This Is Us shows remarkable growth as songwriters and continues to give us songs that has made millions smile.

“We're really excited to release this new album and know that our fans are excited too. We worked with a group of amazing artists and producers that we've never worked with before, exploring new sounds and territory and know the final product turned out incredible” says Carter.
Backstreet Boys plan on spending the second half of 2009 and all of 2010 on the road. A European tour has already been announced and a full North American headlining tour will be announced shortly. Tour dates can be found on the group’s official website www.backstreetboys.com.
Over the last 12 years, the Backstreet Boys have sold more than 76 million albums worldwide, have scored a dozen Top 40 hits and charted in the Top Ten in nearly every country making them one of the most successful groups of all time.

[ Article ] Backstreet Boys Chart Comeback With This Is Us
With the release of their new single "Straight Through My Heart" and the excitement that coursed through the Newsroom when it all happened, it seems that, at least among a few of us MTV News staffers, there is some excitement for the new Backstreet Boys album, This is Us, which is due out on October 6.
For the album, the guys worked with producer RedOne on the single and hooked up with longtime collaborator and pop mastermind Max Martin. They also worked with T-Pain, and Brian Littrell talked to MTV News about working with the rapper (much) earlier this year.
"T-Pain is the hottest thing since sliced bread," he said, adding that the album is "BSB doing what we did when we started together, when we made a name for ourselves we were a vocal group. There are no boy bands left other than us and we're going back to the vocals. We're going to showcase how well we can sing."
So in honor of the release, we are counting down our favorite BSB singles of all time.
10: "Incomplete": It's Kevin's last single with the group. And we are forever incomplete. 9: "Larger Than Life": We're just saying Lance Bass may have seen this video and stolen an idea or two. 8: "The Call": Hello? This song rocks! 7: "More Than That": Because we love them more than NSYNC. Yeah, we went there. 6: "I'll Never Break Your Heart": We love any song that showcases Kevin's undeniable ability to talk in a seductive manner. Kevin, we will miss you. 5: "All I Have to Give": I gave them all my mom's money in high school. And they gave me beautiful music. 4: "Shape of my Heart": It just so happens that x-rays of my heart reveal that it's in the shape of A.J. McLean. 3: "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)": Exactly. It's almost like they could tell the future. 2: "As Long as You Love Me": Dear Boys, I still love you. 1: "I Want It That Way": Because we always want it that way ... whatever that means.
Honorable Mention goes to "10,000 Promises," and if you don't know this song, you're not a true fan. I'm just saying.

This Is Us: album preview review
The lead single off the new BackStreet Boys album is “Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down)”.
The track is pop-gold. There is a feeling of freedom enhanced by the image of a picturesque and crowded dance floor, but also a sense of longing. As a good dance track indicates, there is room to get lost within the beats with hips to shake and hands to frail up in the air whilst still allowing loneliness to be questioned. In a crowded room with other individuals that are questioning life like everybody else, it is nice to be able to bond over the fact that we are all looking for happiness, and good music let’s that happen. As silly as it sounds, the type of songs like “Soldier Down” are the ones that you remember, regardless of their popularity or selling power.

[ Article ] Boy bands: you can't live without 'em. Period.
A lot of names are thrown out there, worldwide, in regards to who the “original” boy band was: New Edition, New Kids on the Block, Take That, and Boyzone. Hopefully, with their seventh studio album (worldwide) the BackStreet Boys can finally show who the real pioneers are.
A lot of other groups have reunited for hyped-marketed tours and merchandise, and outside of Take That’s success (two #1 albums in the UK since their breakup in the mid-nineties), no other has really achieved what they had done before nor stamped pop culture as BSB has. The funny thing about this whole reunion business is that these boys haven’t stopped since they got together back in 1993.

[ Article ] Backstreet Boys turn to RedOne for new album
The group team-up with Moroccan- Swedish producer-songwriter RedOne after struggling to find direction when they started work on their seventh studio disc This Is Us.
RedOne, real name Nadir Khaya, worked on a number of songs for lady’s debut album The Fame , including the chart-topping singles Just Dance and Poker Face .
However, the boy band insists that they aren’t following in the footsteps of Lady Gaga for their new material.
"We racked our brains to rediscover who we were. We had to do something really different but still familiar. RedOne really wanted to be on our Black & Blue album - he said he’d studied us, and he’s written songs tailor-made for the Backstreet Boys," the Daily Star quoted band member Nick Carter as saying.
Playing down comparisons to Lady GaGa, he added: "Lyrically, it’s an album about love, not sex."
'This Is Us’ will be released on October 5.

[ Article ] Backstreet Boys Wage War with New Single
26-Jul-2009 Written by: Kelcey Bridges
The boys release their new single, “Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down).”
The powerful vocal group made up of Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean is ready to take over the airwaves again. The Backstreet Boys released their new single, "Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down)," this week, via a live stream on their Web site. The track will be released to radio stations across the country July 27.
Unlike the first singles off of the boys past two albums, this single is not a power ballad, but rather a track laced with a stinging uptempo beat. "Straight Through My Heart" was produced by hit maker RedOne, who has also produced tracks for Lady GaGa.
The track is rather intense in the lyrics - mentioning bullets, bleeding, and being shot through the heart - all for love, of course.
The Backstreet Boys are back, but they never really went anywhere. While some inaccurately label this as a "comeback," it certainly is not. The boys were out of the scene for about four years, but then regrouped in 2005 with the much anticipated, "Never Gone" record. The guys followed up that album with "Unbreakable" in 2007.
"Straight Through My Heart" is the first single off of their seventh studio album, "This Is Us," due in stores October 6.

Digital Spy Interview AJ !
Monday, July 27 2009, 06:10 BST By Lara Martin, Entertainment Reporter
It seems horribly clichéd and oh-too-easy to revert to the old Backstreet's Back line... but it's true! The '90s heartthrobs-turned-suave foursome are returning with their "best album since Millennium" (their words) and a frankly fantastic lead single straight from the RedOne school of stuck-in-your-head-and-won't-ever-get-out pop anthems (our words). More than a little excited, we called AJ McLean from the group to find out more.
How would you describe 'Straight Through The Heart', the new single? "I'd use two words - Backstreet Boys. Obviously we've worked with a current producer so it's got an updated sound, but the one thing that we were very adamant about, after hearing feedback from fans, was that we wanted to go back to being us. There was a formula that worked for us and this is exactly that."
How did you come to work with RedOne, who's obviously Lady GaGa's producer? "Well, it was really down to me and Nick because we're friends with a couple of guys who work with RedOne. I kept bringing up GaGa because I have a crush on her, so Nick called the guys we know and finally we got through to Red. Then it sort of fell apart and didn't happen and we lost hope. Then, just when we thought we were done making the record, we got a phone call from our management saying Red had three amazing songs for us. We did them and we got our first single!"
